Little concerned here, I have yet to feed them since last night, and I noticed Lily was being a grouch and not eating because Nitrate were at 10PPM. So I did an 80% water change today (ultimately getting the nitrate to 5PPM, and added a Pothos plant to help sponge the nitrates that creep up over a week or so time.

Ive been noticing, hungry or not, my Motoro will bite the rear of the disc, as she tries to sting him in defense. Is this normal? Is he being to agressive where I should seperate them? Or is this him giving her a love bite trying to get a piece of love?

Video to show exactly what I'm talking about.
Yes, thats the Eastern Conference finals sounds in the background, huge Celtics fan here!

10ppm nitrate will have absolutely zero impact on anything. Most of us strive to have 10 ppm. Id bet the average for ray keepers is 20ppm. There are reports that a 60 ppm average had no negative effects.

The previous owner of her said that if her water conditions arent near perfect she wont eat, ive noticed this exact thing.

After the water change, she didnt eat, and the motoro nibbled a little and stopped eating.

0 ammonia, 5ppm nitrate, 0ppm nitrite, ph at 7.2

Thanks for the input John, and nice to meet you fellow Washintonian!
I've always drooled over your collections/tanks, I need to make a trip out there.

Matter of fact I will be going to a concert in the gorge next weekend!

80% seems like way too much. and if you came home to a cloudy tank you most likely sent it into a cycle from doing too much water change. those little bubbles all on the tank look like u just poured in 100% tapwater to a brand new tank you were about to start. jmo.
