It took years for those tanks to grow so dirty. They belonged to the kid(s) of this couple, who were long gone from the nest. Those good folks just kept the water level up and fed the guppies, barely visible as they were. When enough was enough, they took out the ad, not knowing what was in those tanks sitting in their mobile home. I just wonder how many years that was, for those plecos to grow so large. Incidentally, the gups became feeder fish, the 12" plec was cooked the following winter when the heater malfunctioned. We moved to a larger house, an under- insulated mobile home from hell, and about 2 winters later the big plec went under with a lot of other fish and tanks when a storm knocked out the power for three days. What fish we were able to revive and cure of the ich, etc., we kept until we bought this fully efficient ranch style with generator. A friend gave us a pacu, which eventually led me.... here.
