I took a trip to my lfs today and found a smart looking 3inch hassar catfish, they didnt have much info on him and didnt want to buy without further info. Im thinking of housing it in my 120gall cichlid tank, inmates include a ckf and a large plec plus various small (at the moment) central american cichlids. Any info on this guy would be appreciated

These diminutive Doradid cats would be better suited for a peaceful community tank. They only grow to a few inches and are virtually defenseless. They would most likely be badgered and outcompeted for food in a SA/CA community.

I have only kept the one relatively well-travelled species of Hassar available in the hobby as of now, and they would, IMO, do fine with lesser SA cichlidae. Exactly what species do you keep in the tank in question? I wouldn't really consider hassar to be small fish (then again, we're not MONSTER fishkeepers for nothing), reaching a good 6", maybe more, and they are reasonably active as doradids go, so the obtaining of food for this genus has never generally been a problem, IME. Plus, like most doradids, they eat everything.
