Or you could just get a few black nasties and be the first guy in So. Cali. to breed them in years :P

I have 3 that I'm currently growing out.... about 4" now! Two from Conkel, one from Rapps. Not sure how they would do in a community setting? Gani.... any input?

Forgot to add cuban in my first post.

My buddy Ruck Fules/Gani is growing my 5/6 out.... we went in on a group buy but I didn't have room so he's growing them out for me. Not sure about the community setting.

I like the pike idea.... maybe add a couple, just need to see which type! I do like Jason's suggestion, those red tapajos are nice! Btw, just one of the tanks (for now).

I thought about that but are they very similar to the Pearsei?
Better looking than Pearsei IMO.

Screw it get a Beani!!! Or A HAITIENSIS!!!

Check and check! I have a "few" beani's that I'm growing out.... if I get a pair then the "extra" one might be introduced into the community. Haitiensis is growing out also, maybe that extra one will be thrown into the community as well.

I'm glad you all pretty much all agree. Right now I have some of the fish listed so I can condense them into one tank and off load the smaller tanks!

We need to dig around for some Excichlasoma ornatum - that would make a SWEET addition to any community tank...

Why not a female festae in the list Sean? Too hard to find an adult, and they won't keep up with the others growth rates?

You could also look into some smaller CA's to spread around in the nooks and cranny's of the tank if you aquascape it right, such as sajica, spilurum ect...

EDIT: Have you dug around on www.cichlidae.com yet? I think they've got a picture of just about every available species, both rare and common.

I'm also not sure about some of the Madagascar species and how well they'd fare with CA's, but you can talk to Brian - the President from COAST - who just brought in a bunch of different ones from Florida.

Female Festae would be nice.... just want to see how much room I have left. I really, really liked Nutty's tank.... he has those smaller CA's floating around also. I'd throw in some Swordtails/Platies well in advance to cycle/populate the tank and see if they survive the community. Doubt it but they look neat in Nutty's tank!

Nice list. One thing that i haven't seen recommended but how about an Istlanum?

Well Sean, you know I've got a trio of good looking Sajica from Gary's stock if you want em' - they're going to need to go somewhere soon, or the midas are going to make a meal out of em'.

Ah, one more thing too - when you're over here remind me to introduce you to a guy down the street. He can get 5-7" clown loach for about 10 bucks a pop. I'd get 10-12 of em' if I were you, they add a lot of fun to the tank.

He can probably get you some red hooks at a decent price too.
