That's because the fish was so tired from fighting that it had no energy left. Most of that footage was trying to get the tired fish up to the boat. Even if it was dead, it would be hard to reel up, especially in strong current. What's cool is that he released it

they usually use smaller carp or eel as bait for these little ones. fish on cats with a carp of a kilo lol
