I've been throwing around the idea of a plywood tank build for quite some time, and i just came across a piece of glass for free that i'm hoping i can use. and would like some expert opinions. the glass measures 66" x 32" x .75" thick, i believe it was off a table, there are a couple imperfections on 2 of the edges, i'm thinking i can either have them cropped off. or just hide them behind where i would over lap the glass and the wood.

The glass has a green edge to it, and has 45 degree bevels at the edges (1/16") i don't believe this will effect anything.

So first question first, is the piece of glass usable? or did i just haul this ~200 lb monster to my shop for nothing.

Thanks in advance

Brian

there are chips out of the glass edges, like i said i figured i'd either hide them under the over lap, or have the glass cut down.

You can use it. 3/4 glass is good for 36" tall tank if braced right. As for the beveled edges just make sure you give a little more overlap so the tinner edge isn't holding much weight. As for the imperfections... as long as they aren't going to split or crack under the pressure then you would be fine to leave them as is and hide them in the overlap.. IMO hope it helps

Here's the chip.. And also shot of bevel not as extreme as I think it was interpreted.
