GL I had 3 in a 180 all 9" or greater, now I'm down to one. The latest casualty was my female, she got beat up pretty bad by the alpha male recently and I couldn't save her. My 180 is all driftwood as it's a pleco tank now. Curious though my alpha 330 has never touched my 6" L191 only the rival male and now the female all 330’s..

Love to see pics of your boys.

AW! Thats what I like to see. Breeding of the famous L-25's. Would really love to see this fish become somewhat available. By far my favorite pleco. Maybe if enough people can breed these beasts there will be some available that do no cost an arm and a leg when you finally find them. Thumbs up to the guy that bred these guys!

I'd think they would be cave spawners, but not sure. They could also spawn in mud banks, which would make it near impossible to breed them. I know that L-25 have bred, and that L-200 have been bred. L-114's too. I think there was a guy who did it on Planetcatfish though, but I'm not sure.

What might help them is a wood cave, instead of pvc.

Wow, I hope you're successful!

I see a few people saying they are aggressive fish and are hard to keep together. I find this very odd.

I have 6xL-330 from 7.5''-14'' in the same tank and there isn't even a torn fin between them.

All I ever see is the same old mine have spawned but no proof is ever shown.

I have two in a 125g, small about 4" or so. Theres a bit of driftwood in there they always hang around, but they're not aggressive towards each other at all.

They need caves i think for any pleco to breed or spawn..

I have never seen Royals spawn in the aquarium.. only case of exotic plecos that DID breed in aquarium are the small bristle nose, chocolate pleco, zebra pleco. There was also a case of L128 blue phantoms spawn in a german amazon public aquarium, and i also read up about Spiny leopard Cactus pleco spawn as well....

BTW.. I did find a L330 over the weekend.. and i think i might get it too.. best of luck on breeding them Neerva!
On planetcatfish there is a story of L-25 spawning in I think Holland. Also in Asia a guy claims he spawned a pair of L-25's in a twenty long. (don't know how well this story was documneted). Also on P.C. a pair of L-160 spiny monsters have spawned.

ya.. i actually konw the guy who spawn the L-25s ... he said that his most sucess if from the right amount of caves and the fact that his tank has no one that bothers those plecos.. Thats key i think.. u can mix and mature pleco... but if u want to encourage breeding.. its better to just have one group...
