Have room for another fish or two (unfortunately).

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you can get away with some theraps irregulare, tomocichla seiboldi(Rapps has the Tuba cousins) if you can find them. sorry to hear The umbee loss. grammodes will also work. Watch those neets. though they only get 6 in. they pack a punch the 2 will gang up on the larger maculicuada, & Festea. if the later enter their turf. so you'll have basicaly 4 territories until you add another fish.

Isn't the tank to small for an arowana?

I can't believe I'm the only one that is going to say do not get an arowana. In my opinion... actually not an opinion a 24" wide tank is too small for an arowana that is unless you plan on it dying before it reaches adulthood or giving it away or your going to make an upgrade to a bigger tank just like 90% of the people who have them.

As for adding new fish. What are you interested in? Would you like to get another large cichlid? Oddball fish? The festae you already have is going to be very agressive once it has some size on it which will limit your options. I really like datnoids but with agressive cichlids it can be tricky. I have a few dats 8-9" that I have in with a 10" cobra pike and they are sorting out the pecking order right now but I also have multiple tanks that I can move the fish out if needs be. How do you feel about bichirs? Maybe a few delhezi and some datnoids and ditch the festae? Good luck with whatever you do

Thanks, I was pretty sure that the tank was too small for an arowana. I thought that the minumum tank would be 96" x 36" to comfortably house one long term.

I enjoy large cichlids, they are by far my favorite fish. I have considered getting another umbie. Those fish are beautiful. I may also consider a jag, dovii or something such as those. I would like a trimac but I am afraid that it would be to aggressive once it gets larger.

I am open to suggestions. My goal is an active tank with large cichlids.

butti and aro aro aro o yea get rid of the freggin rt and empty the tank... GET A PBASSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3' fish in a 2' wide tank is kinda cruel. minimum in my opinion is 30", but thats just me

Thinking about adding the following, what do you all think?

Amphilophus rostratus
Cryptoheros cutteri (3)
Hoplarchus psittacus
