It's the snakeskin variant of a green Asian aro. Some people call it a Nami green aro, originally from Vietnam...
Nami is a sub varient of Green Arowana which originate from a place call Nami Dam/Nami River in malaysia. It is not from vietnam. That is how it got the name. Most Nami in the market(malaysia) as of today are wild caught species. Some of the famous Fish Farm is working hard to captive breed this Species of Nami. The local state goverment are now prohibiting and educating the locals ( which is the local settleman around Nami Area) to protect this species and refrain any fishing or catching activity on this type of Aro. 10 years ago, the local fish shop sell this at RM500-600 only. Nobody want it. Now the price have rise to RM2,000. and the most recent, one of the LFS in malaysia actually acquire 2 juvenile fish at RM3,500. Which i have personally seen this fish and the size is around 8 -9 inches only, hardly can notice the snake skin on the face.Very minimal pattern. It will only show the snake skin pattern around 14 inches and above.
However, if those big and famous Fish farm sucessfully breed this Nami Green, the price will be control around RM1,500 to RM2,000 only.
They just started the project not long ago, maturity of this fish took about 4 yrs. Selection of good breed and cross breeding again. It will take another 6 - 8 yrs time to see this first batch of captive breeding Nami in the market(malaysia) and the supply now is still insufficient even it is for local consumption in malaysia.
Hope it does explain what it Nami Green to all the buddy here.
