just another poll to see if anyone did mercy killing on a dying fish

and if so how did you do it?

Yes, I have. Clove oil knocked 'em out and in the freezer they went.

mabe that will work on my neighbor!!! i mean i already put ppl in the freezer but it's smart to knock them out first!!! hahaha JK LEO!!!

i have done mercy killing......but i just usually fish em' out and chuck em in the compost pile!! remember to turn and moisten hahaha

I GOT A FEVER!!!!!!!! AND THE ONLY CURE IS MORE COW BELL!!!! GOTTA LOVE CHRISTOPHER WALKEN

Many times, just a quick blow to the back of the head, job done. It's not a nice thing to do but sometimes needed. I'd rather do it that see a fish or animal suffer.

My cichlids screwed a Silver Dollar up. It was swimming upside down, panting and messed pretty bad.

I took it outside, set it on the concrete and chopped it into 3 pieces with a piece of shale. Messy, but i think it's probably the most pain-free method if you don't have clove oil.

ive had to do it once with a large red devil that was too far gone to be saved.

i put him in a large bag with tank water and into the deep freezer. i figure if its not painful for a human to slowly go into a hypothermic state and die, its humane for a fish. i would assume like us, their major organs slowly start to shut as the temp gets too low, as to try and conserve energy/heat. and when its just too cold, it would be heart failure.

You're an idiot

I had a 10inch sleeper goby that developed a mean swim bladder infection... i tried a lil epsom salt as someone told me to try... it got worse... so i just burried it alive...

why not just take really cold water, drop some ice cube in it so you know its freezing, then drop the fish into that before putting it in the water

then they don't have to wait till the temp slowly drops?

any I have only done it twice, and thats how I have done it.

my whole stock not so long ago as they were getting ravaged by callamanus worms. getting skinny and I just couldnt get it under control as I couldnt get the best drugs here in the useable form. 2 uaru A., a buttload of cories, lovely albino female BN plec, a beautiful blue acara and 2 firemouths. mixed up a 500ml bottle of tank water and clove oil to put them to sleep then added the lethal dose once they were knocked out. it was made worse by a couple of resilient fish who didnt succomb to the lethal dose. Man i had tears in my eyes that day.
