Have you ever haggled at a fish store?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I only haggle with the LFS that I visit weekly because we know each other. But I never push it. Usually I'd pay for whatever price listed.. but when a new fish get traded in and they don't have a set price yet, they're a lot more easy to haggle because LFS wants them sold ASAP

I do but only at one of my lfs, I only really have 2 places around and only one place excepts offers. Pretty much every time I offer, its because I'm like $4 short of the cost or its an expensive fish.

I find that if you simply pay what they are asking for their fish and fish accessories, and you purchase from their business often, you will develop a better overall relationship with the people who run it and they may eventually giving you discount. Thats what mine did for me. I pumped about 600 bucks into their business from buying my tank and lights and decorations and fish etc. Now they put in discounts for me without even saying anything. I bought a fish the other day that was labeled $25.00 and they rang it up as $15.00.

The LFS I frequent does this for me as well

Same, more I buy at one time or more often I'm there they give me discounts , 10% on equipment usually but like on stock if I buy a lot or something expensive they lower it. Plus cash no tax; trade in fish are the best deal, even when big they sellem cheap. Jardini with some real nice colors at around 16 in for 100 asking cheapest I seen so far

I haggle if its not the fish they say it is and want to charge more. Or if theyre just charging wayyyyy to much, or if the fish got to the store at 1" and its now 6-8" cause no ones buying it, i dont see why they now need to charge $40 for the same fish that cost them $1.50 so i haggle there.
