My flagtail goes for any food in the tank as do my gibby plecos. The plecos will make a little pocket out of their sucker disk and carry around sinking pellets in it to eat them. The flagtail follows my oscar around and cleans up the pellets and krill that he shreds and blows out of his gills. Anything he misses is almost immediately found by my clowns. It's a nice little system they have going and pretty much eliminates any possibility of food going uneaten

yah, my royal sneaks in chunks of krill and somtimes I even catch him sneaking in pellets that drift his direction. But if you dont allredy you really should toss in a slice of blanched cucumber/zuchini/squash or sweet potato regularly along with algae wafers. They cant survive on the algae in your tank alone.

yep my like zuchini but hates sweet potato

and on occassion he will pounce on and eat a baby ghost shrimp (very young adult stage)

WOW! I have had plecos for quite some time since i was a little kid and never knew that. I feel bad now!

They always seemed healthy but that must be cause they were sneaking other fish food as well as the algae.

I am not much for cooking terms and food terms so what does "blanched" mean? do I have to cook the zucchini first?

Thanks!
