I havent seen my nile eat in a mintute since he last ate those two minnows i fed him.is it normal for them not to eat for a week,he still has crickets in his cage and a live pinkie.and he dosent see interested.im pretty sure the temps are right at 95 degrees on one side of the tank and 75 on the other at this time.do u think hes alrite.

if it's only been a week then i would worry about it. he could be stressed out by all the crickets and stuff crawling around the cage or he could be full.

Maybe its because you handle him every 3 hours and thats whats stressing him out.

Thats still a WHOLE lot......you should only handle one or two times a WEEK........I'd take all the crickets and the pinkie out, don't handle him for a few days and then try again......he's either real stressed or not hungry.....

leave him be and put some crickets, and a blanket to keep him to himslef

Take out all the crickets and pinkie and leave him be for a few days. They get really bugged (no pun intended) by all that stuff crawling around their cage. He will eat soon.

How long have you had him?
What is the temp of his basking spot?
How big an enclosure? and does he have a tub of his own for water or just you taking him out to the bathtub?
Niles are not tame and if they are they are unhealthy in some way. It is the nature of the beast.
Stress would keep him from eating. Moving him back and forth to the tub, trying to hold him. Not a hot enough basking spot (120-140*) would also slow down everything. Set him up and leave him be. A monitor is not a hold and walk around with sort of pet....especially not a Nile.
