entertaining thread - you got a lot of good advice here . its true about the confidence though so don't go overboard crushing out . she won't respect you if she senses weakness , and unfortunately crush love can be seen as a sign of weakness . unless she's crushing on you also , in which case you would have it made .... but you would know by now .

We've all been there. It makes a cool story to tell your friends later.

Be yourself when you talk to her. Do not be afraid of her or of being rejected. Keep it quick. Once she agrees to hang out with you, get out of there. If she gives you a date. Don't spend much time planning it. It will never go perfectly so don't worry about it. If you are comfortable she will have a good time. If you bring her a flower (only one...trust me) do not give her a rose. Some guy has likely given her a rose before. Ask a florist to recommend something, maybe an iris or an orchid. They will steer you in the right direction.

Anyways, dude, you're my age right? 17/18 ish, whatever, dude, you're young, and unless the guy she's dating is like a good friend, or unless you have a super big beef with him, don't be afraid to be friendly with her. Like everybody else said here, don't go looking for a relationship, look for a friendship first and then see where that goes. Be friendly, don't bring up sex at all in any conversation, and just be the chill as f dude you are! and soon, she'll realize that the best boyfriend is also synonymous with your best boy friend..... you think people would have noticed that by now.
