I don't know much about africans (right)? I do know that they can be secretive when breeding, and you really don't know that they've done anything unless you look at their throats and if they are inflated between the bottom gill plates then they are holding eggs or fry. I don't know if this is true or not with this type of species so correct me if I'm wrong anybody that keeps africans, in my experiance the female will start laying eggs and then pick them up in her mouth and nip at the males eggs spots thinking they are eggs too and the male fertilizes them as she nips at his egg spots. I've heard males are the ones that have the egg spots on the anal fins, females usually don't. in Labrochromis this is the same only, I have been told that the males will have a thicker broader black stripe on the dorsal. SO CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG PEOPLE THAN KEEP THESE. I know more about american cichlids than african.
////thanks for that info brother that was clear as day
