Actually it's the Hawaiian name for the convict tang. The Manini sometimes school together in the hundreds close to the shore.

Awesome pics Sean! THat last one is my favourite! Man i miss that island so bad! If it wasnt for the constant humidity id move asap! I love that laid back vibe of that little town outside of Hilo we stayed in. Such nice friendly people.
Yeah the last two are my favorites, those blennies are awesome. If it wasnt so humid id probably move back but I don't know how long id last and id move to hilo that place was awesome.
Yup! Manini means small, but if someone calls you "Manini" they usually mean stingy!
Well i didnt notice anyone calling me "manini" while I was there so I guess Im good. An amazing Island for sure, its crazy how the climates change for dry volcano landscape to rain forest.
