how would you know they are a MATED pair, just curious
 
I guarantee them to alive alive in good condition or all of your money back, however i require pictures of the eels dead upon arrival or the bodies sent back to me. As for the other question, they were caught within 5ft. Of each other and they are a male and female so it would be a very good assumption to say they are a pair-- especially since eels are territorial.
 
it is like clownfish... If you saw only 2 mature clown fish in the same sea anemone and one was male and one female you could safely say that they are a mated pair. Nobody saw them mate, but that is how wild caught fish are known to be paired off. I have a degree in ichthyology, but that aside I know from experience they are a true mated pair.
