A pair of red tailed hawks have built a nest on a ledge at our Franklin Institute museum here in Philly.Check out the instutes web cam(at www.fi.edu/hawks) where we can keep track of the recently hatched eggs.

The cam was down earlier, seems to be up now.

very cool...i love these cams where it does'nt disturb them but we get to see it all

While were talking about birds of prey.....I saw this hawk from really far away when I was out on my deck today. I zoomed in as far as I could with my camera and snapped this pic before it flew off. It looks like a female Cooper's Hawk. I sure hope it sticks around to take care of my squirrel problem.

Nice shot Seth. There is a place somewhere in Pa. called hawk or eagle mountain where birdwatchers go to to observe different raptors,I'd like to take a day trip to check it out. Have you heard of it?

Yep, it's called Hawk Mountain. It's near the Fort Indian Town Gap off or Rt. 81. I haven't been there since I was a kid but I do recall seeing lots of different birds of prey migrating during the fall from that location.

where i live, red tailed hawks used to be a common sight, now i hardly see them.

and i remember as a kid, we'd be at lunch in school and I'd see california condors soaring high up in the sky

sad really
