I have had a ten for a while and it has been fine. I found a good deal on an ac 50, got it, and hooked it up. Now the tank is kind of hazy i wouldn't say cloudy. Did the new huge filter make the tank cycle again? all the other tanks accepted there new addtl filters with ease.....hmmmmmmmmm

ITs all about bacteria man you need to establish bacteria, take some old media from you old filter and then it will clear right up

^^^ like he said, was it added or a replacement?

All tanks have new additional filters. The bigger tanks held up but not the lil ten. I left the old one on and will always,......It wouldn't make sense to not run a filter. I did a 75 % change and it helped. Should i just let it run? and stop changing water?

Doesn't make sense that it would have caused a (re) cycling of the tank, it should have just started cleaning and growing bacteria.

Did you was the new filters before installing them?

Keep up 20% W/C's and like danny said, check the chemistry.

Keep us posted,

I have tested many times and i always test. my perams are good, I washed the new filter......I'm no rookie so don't get that impression. This has never happened to me ever I have had this ten for a couple years now,...could the activated carbon that came with the filter be removed? I usually run them for a while and toss them. My water changing habbits are good enough that I seldom have any WQ issues. The haze looks real clean no dissolved particles to speak of. Not by a window. I think I will lose the activated carbon and see what happens.

If the carbon soaked up all the available nitrogenous material, the bacteria in your established filter would have nothing to live on and would die. That is a shaky guess, but it is the only thing I can come up with.
