mine is a beast, he never really hides some times he bites the glass and it sounds like a quarter being tapped on it, hes NUTS! i dont have a cam right now but my sis is visiting and bringing one in like a week so ill fo sho post pics, his chin was all messed up when i first got him (from a hook im guessing) so ive waited till its fully healed. its nice to see someone else with a blue diamond.

that's awesome, wish mine turn out to be like yours.
Guess it's still small and skittish. how long you had him?

How do you tell the diff. between a Black rhom and a Blue rhom.? I have what i believe is a baby black rhom about 3" when i bought it the dude told me it was a black diamond it's very skittish and hides when i go up to the tank. He does take prepared food very well for being so small so far i've tried tillapia fillet and shrimp I used the garlic trick and that seems to drive my fish crazy.

I guess is due to its collection point. can't really tell by looking at it.
I got it from aquascape and they told me is a blue diamond, you can see hint of blue some times and was told that it'll show more and more then it gets bigger. I just have to base on their experties and hope it's a real blue diamond. the bigger ones they sold are really really blue.
what do you mean by garlic trick? that makes the fish eat alot??

I dont know if it makes them eat more but there suppose to be sensitive to the smell of garlic, if your having a hard time breaking the fish from feeders I suggest using this method as it worked for me with my black rhom., red tail payara and wolffish.

What I do is put the food in a container with a piece of freshly grated garlic let it marinate for a lil' bit then put it in the tank it took a couple of tries but eventually they take it. now I dont even have to use the garlic there so use to taking the prepared food.

he is eating now, but just not as crazy as pygos, only take like one bite/month full and let the rest sit there. I want to get him eat alot, any idea how?

You can try it, see if it works.... When i feed my rhom i put two medium sized pieces once he picks it up off the floor he gobbles it up.

I'll give it a try tonight then, hopefully he'll finish the food like there's no tomorrow.

what size is your filet anyway?

They were full size fillets i cut em' in strips about 3" long. I froze them and use about 2 3" pieces to feed all my fish. id say the Rhom get's about 2-3 1/2" pieces

Nice Blue by the way.

thanks.

wow, your 3" rhom eats alot. that's about 1.5" of filet strips, how wide is each piece?
I guess the garlic trick does work for you, really have to try it out tonight.
mine only takes one bite, maybe 1/4"x 1/4" chuck and that's all he eats. I can't wait to see him stuff himself up.
how long you had your rhom?

The fillets are about 1/2" wide. I've had my Rhomb. for about a year got it when it was really small probly a lil bigger than an 1" not exactly sure so dont hold me to it. I was naive and thought i could keep it with my other fish. I put it in with the big guys walked away for 10 min. came back and all my fish were on one side of the tank trying to hide from this tiny rhomb and all there fins had chunks take out of em' but that's what happens when you get bad advice.

After that I was able to get my hands on a 10 gal. from a buddy of mine. Kept the rhomb in there for awhile. I just recently move him to a bigger tank. I would just throw left over feeders in there it wasn't till about 2 weeks ago i started doing the prepared food. Hope this helps
