I actually haven't been to Tradewinds...will have to check it out.

I don't really think Tradewinds is worth the visit if you're not local to the area. I used to go there all the time when I lived in U. City, but their selection is pretty small and their fish are often in poor condition. Once in a while you get lucky and find some cool oddballs.

World wide in Upper Darby used to be really good but their a little pricey and their stock hasn't been as good lately. Definitely the place for African cichlids though - Jim Hall really knows his stuff and order from Rapps.

I unfortunately don't own a car so I haven't been to the more distant places.

What's Captain Nemo's like? Good freshwater selection? Might try biking there when the weather gets nicer.

wow, do you have a Burger King or McDonalds in your town?

You guys are lucky to have all those stores close. I have to drive an hour+ to get to a petsmart.

You're from WV? I grew up in Southern Ohio. My parents still live there and have a tank stocked with fish from Wal-mart - that they have to drive a half-hour to get to.

How is Monster Pets? I live in Roxborough, and I think I have been to every LFS in the Philly area except their.

My store is Captain Nemo's in Norristown. The place is huge, alot of tanks, healthy fish and great prices.

Monster's doe not have that many selection. I think Capt. Nemo has better pricing and more selection.

Monster Pets has an interesting selection, though not huge. If you aren't too far, it's worth the drive just to check it out.

The best places are a drive. There's Captain Nemo's (formerly Big Al's) in East Norriton, East Coast Aquatics near the airport, and Aquarium Center in Lindenwold NJ.

Thats where I go most of the time or World wide in upper Darby. Two biggest places around. I keep seeing a commercial late night about a aquarium place in NJ. There suppose have over 600 tanks of fish. Anyone been there? I think its called aquarium center.

Coincidently I posted this thread about The Aquarium Center in the "Central and South American Cichlids" section of this site. I have been looking around for quite some time now for Uaru's. They were the only place that has them. I was their last night:

I got them last night. The Aquarium Center in Clementon, NJ. I asked for 6 and the guy threw in an extra one. After I acclimated them and added them to the tank, a few of them just laid on their side like they were just about dead. One of the one was even floating almost upside down. I let just them be for the night. I came down this morning and all seven of them were swimming in a tight group in the corner of the tank. I was very happy to see them all alive.

If anyone is in the Clementon, NJ area it is worth stopping in to The Aquarium Center. This was the first time I was in their. They have ALOT of tanks. I have never seen a adult Peacock Bass other than in pictures. They have one that is about 20" or so. I all I have to is WOW, they are incredible. As far as the price for the Uaru's, they have them for sale on liveaquaria.com for $29.99 for 1 1/2-2" juvies. I paid $8.99. I got seven for less than the price of two on their. I am pretty happy about that also. I will post pic's later on today. Any tips on feeding would be helpful?
