I have a 5 y/o RBP who was dropped today after a relocation. I got him to my house successfully and post-acclimation opted to use a rubber net I had on hand to transition him into tank. Poor decision, he bit through it right before I put him in, fell from about 3 feet I’d guess. Immediately scooped him up and got him in tank but now I’m worried.

Signs and symptoms: He lost pigmentation in belly for about a minute, breathing has been slightly irregular (more rapid with occasional gulps), and he will occasionally use his pec fins to bump off the bottom of tank.

Is he screwed? I feel so bad but I’m hoping all these symptoms are stress and not a result of trauma from the drop

Sounds like a stress response to me. I’d give it time - try minimizing lights to reduce stress (especially since piranhas are already light sensitive).
They are built really tough (even if they’re big babies) so a fall isn’t the end of the world imo.
