State of chaos
I was wondering about this. Some people use big bubbling strips to make a "bubble wall", but I have always wondered... does it cause stress/health issues with fish by making the tank full of air? Wouldn't it be like trying to breathe while being sprayed with a garden hose?

Just wondering

Fish breathe oxygen, not water
a bubble wall is designed for asthetic appeal and to add oxygen to the water
so it would be like being blasted in the face with clean pure air
thats why you see so many fish swimming through them
they like the feeling and it gives them a fresh burst of oxygen

the bubbles themselves arent adding oxygen. they cause surface agitation that increases the gas exchange at the surface of the water allowing oxygen to enter the water from the surrounding atmosphere.

bubbles = surface agitation = aeration = oxygenated water

Well yeah, but as the air is traveling from the strip to the surface, wouldn't it stress the fish?

No, and if it did, you'd see them backing away from it as far as they can.

I'm a believer in airstones, there's no doubt that they are beneficial, I'm asking about the bubble strips that create a wall of bubbles in the tank.
