Heat room vs water with a twist.

My buddy bought one of those wall mounter heaters for his 3 car garage and it only cost $20/month to keep the garage around 55 during a Chicago winter.

I didn't think about a wall mounted heater, given the extremely small space I bet it could work just as if not better for this room. In my mind the extremely small size gives me the benefit of not having to work as hard to heat that area to 84.

Bumb so the only problems anyone see's with this is possible fire and mold? I think their is mold resistant sealant I could put on the walls, not sure about the fire problem.

Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams have mathroom/kitchen paint that is mold and mildew resistant.

As long as you have an appropriate feed I wouldn't worry about fire. Most fires are started because idiots have space heaters plugged into lamp cords or place the heater to close to flammable materials.

Where are you at in Missouri? I am over by KC and we kept our house 70-72 all winter w/o much issue, my tanks are in the basement also, my current ambient water temps are right about 70 degrees. Being that I dont have a large tank like yours, take my idea with a grain of salt, but couldn't you use the heater in reservoir method I have seen a few people from Canada (and elsewhere) use?

Well I would love my house to be heated in the winter, but for reasons that is just not possible, we have to live in one room essentially and heat that room. Thank goodness we can cool the whole house in the summer so we don't have to suffer all year.

"but couldn't you use the heater in reservoir method " I am not sure I understand what you mean here?

You should be fine doing so. Be it a small room or a large room, it is all the same. I use a few heaters, but most of the heat in my fish room is generated by the dehumidifier. My heaters never seem to be on.
