I have a new Fluval 200W heater on a 46 gallon and at night my house gets to about 68-70 degrees. I had set it from 80-86 last night and in about 6 hours nothing happened, i woke up today and temp was 82. However during the day it warmed up easily as my house temperature is about 75-77, and maintaining the temperature is easier than climbing to it.

That being said, next time you do a w/c try using some hot water to put your temp up to what you want and see if your heaters will keep it stable.

Warm water not hot.

I have 2 thermometers in the tank and I check it with a calibrated digital thermometer at the surface also. They are all very close to the same.

i would get a couple new 300 watt heaters kept tripping the overheat sensor on mine its an aqueon pro 200 watt i think it cause i didnt have sufficent flow though the sump but other than that it puts the water temp right where i want it

When I set up my 220 to cycle I was using 3 Marineland 250W Stealth Pro Heaters, I had left over from some smaller tanks, set to 86 to help the pace. Starting temp from water fill was 77 and it still took over 24 hours to reach just 82. I replaced them all with one JBJ 800W True Temp Titanium Heating System Kit and have never looked back. Great product, but a little pricey for some I suppose. Well worth it to me though.

Jager heaters...for the cost...I dont think anything is better.

Have used them for years, and now they are submersible...very happy camper with mine.

It is Marineland and I am not sure of the age. Maybe I just need a new one?

Is it a black Marineland Stealth Pro? If so IMO those heaters are crap, had a 250 W at 86 F and my tank was 70 F and the heaters little light on the top said it was warmed up with a little green light. Also if its a Stealth Pro Google Marine Land Stealth Pro recall PetSmart and you should be able to find an email that PetSmart wrote about the recall, print it out and take it and the heater to PetSmart and you will get store credit for it. :-) I got $40 store credit for mine and I bought it else where, just don't tell them you bought it elsewhere. Haha. If its not a Stealth Pro, just ignore all the above.

Since you have them in the sump, right?
What`s the temp there?
What kind of GPH do you have going?
Is your sump sectioned off?
Have you tried putting one heater in the tank for any period of time?
Sometimes it will take a long time to get a tank up to the temp you want.
