Also it was on the stealth pro's is what I am reading. Is there some information that I am missing?

At least one member that I recall had trouble with the Visitherm model too. If I remember correctly, he lost a few high dollar discus.

What small heater would you guys recommend for an 8g biocube? it does need to be small enough to fit in the very back of it so that its out of site

Eheim Jager 50 watt? It's only 9" long.

Based on recent polls and discussions, it appears to be the heater of choice by the majority of MFK members. Myself included :)

LOL!

I actually bought a couple of 300 watt units. I found them on Amazon pretty cheap awhile back. I just checked for you...the 50 watt heaters are just under $21. They have a 25 watt unit too that I didn't know about, but it's about $25 (go figure).

Hope that helps!

Thx for checking!!!! I will order one right now cause Im a champ!:headbang2 The 25 watt is more than the 50? I wonder if I should get the 25 and save some money on electricity. any inputs on that before I order? http://www.google.com/products/cata...og_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CEIQ8wIwAg#

There was a discussion on that once too and I sort of failed to finish reading it all lol :)

But, what makes sense to me is that you will only use as many watts as needed to heat the water to the temperature setting. In other words, your 50 watt heater will use more wattage of course, but will generate heat faster. Therefore it won't be running as long as the 25 will be.

I sort of think of it this way...76 degrees is 76 degrees. It's going to take a certain amount of heat to raise and maintain the temperature from say 72 ambient to 76. How quickly you get there depends on how many watts you throw at it. Besides a few pennies difference maybe, the heaters should cost the same in electricity used.

Based on that, I would go with the 50. Having a heater get up to temp quickly, then shut down is better (safer) than a lighter heater being on for a longer time.

Good luck!
