heater configurations

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use Lifegard Aquatics AF-92 Exterior heater modules; I have three in a series each with a 500 watt heater; my 260 is drilled for a closed loop so I used those bulkheads; I run a 1200 gph pump that runs just this loop with the heaters; only two of the heaters are plugged in; the third is a backup; that way there is absolutely no way the rays can get burned; plus I've got a ranco etc heater controller which keeps the heaters honest in case they stick on; plus a lifegard temp alert system with large readout mounted on the wall where I can easily check on it; Yes I'am paranoid about heaters but once you've made fish stew you will be too!

i am using two hot magnums and a marinland bio wheel im not sure what size but i wish i had a fx 5 or a rena or something but i dont my freinds are conspiring to get me a motoro ray for my bday in a few days its a good thing i found out ive got to get a new heater to bad i gave my rios away when i sold my piranas the would work nicely now the only powerhead i have has a long flat outlet i dont know i yanked all my gravel cleaned evrything filled my tank to find out my heater doesnt work

heres a few i built. 1 1/2 in pvc pipe that i drilled holes in and i took the caps from 1 liter mt dew bottles cut holes in them the size of the heaters to hold them centered in the pvc piped. the caps fit perfictly into the pvc pipe. i painted the one and not the other.

well dosent the magnum to the bio wheel isnt there a line on it? if so def in line it that would be perfect. im a fan of the rena smart heater and when you do upgrade to a canister it would still be good for the intake

no there not smoking.... the one has a hob flowing down and the glass is dirty on the other

I used a piece of plastic gutter drainage pipe, the stuff you bury underground. The stuff I used already had slits in it for water flow. Its a nice deep black color looks sort of stylish (most people don't know its used for gutters ;)). I plan to cut another piece for my other heater and some how cut them so i can suction cup the heaters to the wall along with the pipe... I had to jam a plant into the top of my current piece because my RCK keeps venturing inside it. Doesn't know what's good for him I guess....

Its in the middle
