hey all, know what heater controller are good, relieable, and long lasting? i have been going through about 4 now and couldn't seem to find a decent one that last me 3 winters.. if you have any good recommandations, and if possible where to buy it the cheapest.. every one of mine i have spend about $90 :cry:. thanks
 
I have a couple controllers and both have been reliable.

The first one is a Medusa brand - it has performed flawlessly for about 14 years now. It has a couple features that I really like, a red illuminated LED display that you can read from across the room and an over/under temperature alarm. Unfortunately they aren't manufactured any more... :irked: There is a used one on ebay...

The second is a Pinpoint Temperature Controller from American Marine. It has a really nice temperature adjustment system that allows you to adjust both the temperature set-point and range independently.

What brand were the ones that failed on you?
 
I'm behind Ranco controllers 100%. Honestly, you get what you pay for.
 
+++ for the Ranco, I got mine off ebay and wired it up myself. The only downside is the display is not lit and hard to see without a light
 
+1 on what brands failed u? im looking for one to use on my 300 and another for the 125 because the heaters in the sump is a pain to adjust when temps fluctuate in my rooms due to mother nature PMSing..
 
I got my ranco from etc also. Plus they'll cover your temperature sensor and as much wire as you want with heat shrink tubing, because you aren't supposed to put the sensor straight in the water. They only charge 1.50 a foot, so it was an extra 4.50 for me. I wired mine myself also, so it was 59.99 for the controller, 4.50 for the tubing, and then less than 10 dollars for the wiring. It works great though.

Same here when I replaced the sensor!
