I'm still running a 75w Ebo-Jager on my 40g for over 15 years........yes its glass but I have dropped the damn thing many times (during cleaning where I have broke others) and it keeps on ticking. I have no doubt it will probably out last me.

Top Sticky - longest-lasting equipment
Just look how many Ebo-Jagers are talked about

Ah, now I'm torn this is a great comment. So, now I'm deciding between the Hydor external heater which would make less clutter in my tank vs. the Ebo-Jagers.... the Ebo doesn't have a lifetime warranty like I read though.

oh nevermind, the lifetime warranty was for the marineland.. ok cool. i might get the ebo-jager, since i'm worried about the danger of having an external heater and if the water stopped running through it.

It shuts off when the flow of water stops. I shut my filter off for maintenance while the heater is still plugged in without even thinking twice about it.

you silver can jump out of a 3/4 filled tank so dont bother with not filling it just put on a lid...

if you fish break your heaters.. get a heater gaurd.. or make life simple and just make one... heaters fit very well into pieces of 1.5" pvc... pvc is very easy to slit/drill..
