I like that idea, I was thinking of connecting to my boiler somehow so will do some research.The1and only;4507480; said:I would go over to the DIY section and look at how VLD heats his tank. It is the same as thefishguy. They both use a controller to open a valve to allow water from their water heater to flow through PEX tubing to ambient heat the water in the sump. Th eway i am going when I move and set up my 600 gallon system.
well our winters here in the midwest are alot more severe and my basement can reach 62 F if its below 0 outside and windy (old house) but not normally, more like 68 F. Right know i have 550 watts in the sump and it's set for 74 while the temp down here is 72 right know so will have to get going on this. Thanks for the input everyone.Jabba954;4507133; said:Depends on a number of factors - most importantly the insulation in the room around the tank, and ambient temps. I use 2x 400W heaters and they do the trick even in the middle of winter (albeit a California winter, where temps don't drop below 32F). The tank is in my garage, which is below grade, providing terrific insulation (winter AND summer - which is great, my chiller has never kicked on, and it was 109 outside yesterday).
just be careful to chekc everything for copper, many boilers and water heaters have it.Deano1956;4508513; said:I like that idea, I was thinking of connecting to my boiler somehow so will do some research.
