Look at my post on my 750 build, I am also using my water heater to heat my tank. It is a much more cost effective way than using electric heaters.
My water heater is electric so I dont know if it would be less costly than normal heaters in my sump but will check it out.

I have my fish tank on a heat exchanger with my boiler. The fish tank is its own "zone" with in the house. The exchanger is stainless, and the water from the boiler never enters the tank, so copper isn't a threat.

It came from McMaster Car. My husband bought it and I am not sure which one he got.

I think its the top one on this page, but the picture doesn't look right and neither does the price.

I suspect we bought just the inner coil and not the external tube housing. I think it cost a little less than $500. The coil is in my sump.

The heat exchanger that I used is about $200, got it off of ebay from a vendor so they have plenty available. IMO it's a lot cleaner setup than sticking a coil in the sump.

That is very near to what I have, just that mine is a coil.
