I will be getting my first ray next week a motoro.;) I have been reading i should put guards on the heater to protect him. The tank is 6x3x2.5. I have 3 jager 300w heaters in the tank. Cannot put in sump since I dont have one its has 2 fx5 for filters. I want to now the best way to get a guard on them? Anybody try jbj true temp heater guards? Or should i just purchase some new heaters with guards on them already? I need the 3 heaters since that room is on a slab and it gets cold in the qinter if i am not feeding the fireplace.

There are also in line heaters available - you connect them to your return line going back into the tank I believe. I've never used them, but it's an option! I had the same problem, and got Fluval heaters that came with the guards to make it easy. :) Good luck!

I just ordered the jbj heater covers. Hopefully they work on the jager heaters, if not i will try inline put heard they dont work with the fluval hoses??

I wouldn't want to pay the money to replace the FX5 hoses if they didn't work after getting butchered! :P Seriously though, I chose not to go that route simply because I didn't want to witness what might happen if it *didn't* work - if the connection broke or leaked on the way back into the tank that would be a disaster for sure (especially if your tank/pond isn't basement level). I'd stick with the heater guards ;) Hope they work - let us know!

they will work but not sure 2 x fx5 will be enough filtration

2 fx5 will b fine of course its better to have more but that will work.jus make sure u got power heads for more water movement and to push more waist toward the fx5's intakes.
