ok ,will try to get 25w then , better be safe than sorry , dont want to shock my fish by a too fast temperature increase.

yes , i do , my heater should have a thermostat to stop it at a certain temperature to prevent overheating . as you suggest a 50w heater may heat the water from the room's temperature to the designated temperature too quickly which my stress the fish
