You got it. The unit I mentioned comes with a temperature probe and it bascially becomes the brain of your heating system. You plug heaters into the controller and the controller is plugged into your outlet.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the page I linked to, there's a decent explanation there. I don't believe the hype about the controller actually saving you money on your electric bill (I personally think that's just a sales gimmick), but they are nice controllers nonetheless.
