I just got 240 wide tank was wondering how many watts i need. I am planning to put it in the sump.

I usually use 200w and it's well enough. Especially if the tank is covered. On my 130g I could shut down the heater...the lid is so good the light heat the water. So heater there only for temp drops in the house since it gets very cold in the winter here.
