The Jager last me fine awhile, I have 10 of Jager from 200w-300w some of my 300w overheat and went out couple week ago

Sounds about right. A heater that heats up too high and stays on too long is bad for both the fish(burns) and heaters' electronics(increase wear and tear)
I'm trying out one of the Lifegard external heater modules now. I like the external heater idea!
