I was thinking about building a 6x4 ponds like 2-3 deep and I was just wondering if I insulated it if an 800 watt heater would be enough for it? Thanks for any help...
What are u planning to keep? What is ur lowest temp in the winter? Finaly, do u have a pump or fointian constintly bracking the surface water? Then i can help u better
One of the ponds I helped set up a few years ago used a small electric apartment type hot water heater in a closed loop system. Water was circulated through the system with a small pump and regulated by the thurmostat on the water heater. The metal coil was located in one of the filter chambers for optimum water flow. The entire unit was a LOT less expencive to set up and run than you think and with a well insulated tank and pipes is VERY cost effective for a pond heater.
My uncle does the same thing and his pond has been running for 8 years he has also had koi breed in there. Where we live temps get into the negitives so deep enogh and ull be fine probly
