Well my 600 is going to be in my unfinished basement where the Temps can reach as low as 50 degrees in the middle of winter.....this tank will be insulated all around to help with heat but I would like to hear opinions on heaters you guys would go with. I would like to go with some reliable heaters that won't fluctuate Temps. .....any suggestions? ....

Temp will fluctuate a little bit even if you use a controller. Insulation is a step in the right direction. Will you be running a sump? If so it should get a wrap as well. Your best bet if you are looking to upgrade heaters would be to go with titanium "brainless" heaters and a controller. This could be a $200 investment or a $600 investment, all depends on your choice of brand and supplier. Keep us posted with what you ended up doing to maintain everything. Good luck!

I'm using 2 - 1000 watt JBJ True Temp Digital Heaters w/controllers and keeping my 600 at 83.5 pretty consistent. I'm in the process of building a pvc/greenhouse panel top that should aid in keeping the warmth inside.

300G including sump. I know many would use that for much higher volume - just runs longer.

Two of the main reasons I went with the JBJ True Temp titanium heaters are: #1 - They are titanium and have a hard plastic case surrounding them. #2 - You can use magnets instead of suction cups to hold them in place. This we a huge thing for me, since I use them inside the tank with our Fly River turtle and he is an absolute wrecking ball. As a bonus, the magnets are extremely strong. They hold the heaters in place through the thickness of the 600 gallon Pentair fiberglass tank.

I'm sure there are plenty other manufacturers that will work in your case. I couldn't find any others in for our specific situation (besides an inline heater, big $$$$).
