I'm running 3 300watt jagers on a 300 gallon rubbermaid. Have them all set to 84 degrees but the tank stays anywhere from 74-76.8. I was hoping to hit closer to 78-80. I would rather run 1 big heater of some type and I really dont want to add yet another jager as i'm out of power sockets lol. I know years ago I had a fireplug heater that worked great but I cant find them. Open to any ideas to heat anything larger.

Make a top for the rubbermaid.. it will help keep the heat in..

Or heat the room a little more.

What's the temp in the room? Are the heaters running constantly?

There is no chance of a top going on this. I want to be able to watch them. It is in a basement storage room. I'd say average temp in that room is 68 degrees

Yea heaters run a ton. Every time I look at them I see their lights on. They are in the filter with a lot of water movement. I posted a picture of the pond and the filter in my gallery.

Use acrylic for the top. You can still see them then.

To get that stuff thick enough where its not going to bow would cost more then a massive heater :) Plus I really enjoy the open top.

Then slap another heater on it, because all of your heat is escaping from the top of the tank.. you're gonna be running heaters a lot with no top on the tank.. heat rises..

Maybe you could try a different brand heater. I have two 300w viaaqua titanium heaters on my 260. The tank is in the basement where it has probably been around 60-65 degrees. The tank stays at 81 degrees, never varying more than a degree. I love these heaters. That being said, your situation is different since you are heating a rubbermade, so I dunno if this would solve your problem.

I dunno its a degree or two really. I was hopeing to get a lead on where I could find something like those old fireplug heaters. (looked like little fire hydrant or whatnot) I ran 1 of those on a 600 gallon pond for like 8 years with no problems.

Found the new version. Ordering it atm. Its inline similiar the the old one. Check it out under heaters at this site..http://aquanetics.com/...

mods can close thread now. thanks
