I've searched the threads here and haven't really found much in way of what heaters are good for oscar fish to prevent them from breaking.

It's going to be a 150 gallon tank, I used Aquariumlife.net and found that the wattage recommended is 354W, but I'd rather play on the safe side and go above that. Preferably two heaters...both indestructible.

Any suggestions on brands to look at?

As always, the lower the price the better but reliability, ease of use, and safety take top priority.

I like my jbj titanium 5 tuetemp with digital controller, came with a black plastic guard to prevent heater burn.

Most of us can't afford that heater.
I have had real good luck with the FinEx titanium heaters.

Place heater or heater's in your sump if that's part of your filtration .

I don't think you need two, three hundred plus watt heaters on that tank.

A pair of 200W Aqueon ProHeaters will do the job. I like two heaters because if one goes bad there is still back up. Submerge them at 45 degree angles at each end of the tank. They are about 30 bucks a pice.

+1

I also agree with Tom, 2 smaller heaters are best, just in case one gets stuck in the on position, in that way, your fish doesn't get cooked.
Sumps are my choice for any large cichlid though, in that way the heater is out of harms way, and out of view, along with all the other equipment.

Buy like 1.5 inch pvc pipe from home depot and cOs for both ends. Silicone the bottom one, drill small holes througut the tube to allow for water to be pulled in and circulated. Mines worked well.
