All (4) of my stealths are dead on

That said, I'd put them in the sump

Dr. Joe,

*If you can put the heaters under the bio-material in your W/D filter, it will be benificial to the bacterial growth. If too hot then one under and one near return in sump area.*

What do you mean under the bio-material?
at the bottom with the bio-media sitting on it?
or past the bio-media chambers?

My sumps have a 2" space under the bio-mat. holder and with 4" water level in sump, so I put one directly under the bio-mat. - heat rises helping the bacteria's environment.

How do u turn off the Stealth Heater? Long time no chat Dr. Joe! How have you been?

Does this little spark damage the heater?

I have both heaters in Sump since last night, temp setting at 82 F

in tank temp reading is 81.5 F

Hi, Been as well as can be expected...grandkids give me something to look forward too :D .

The sparks won't hurt the heater, turning them off first is a precautionary measure in case the environment has an explosive atmosphere (gas or dust) I know that sounds extreme but some areas collect alot of dust (for those that don't spill alot of water) and a stray spark can start a fire .

Looks like your heaters are working out for you.

Another good point to consider, maybe a temp. alarm too? (I used them way back for some delicate probs.)

your lucky your temp dial tell you the same temp that the reading does. mine is way too far, i don't know why, got it from dr foster and smith online.:(

Poor calibration standards and/or quality control...like someone else said 'don't put them in the direct flow of the pumps' or they won't register properly either.

It shuts itself off when it isn't in the water. That is the great thing about Stealths.
