Let's do a little reverse engineering

http://www.howstuffworks.com/how-to-repair-a-washing-machine.htm

Now that we have learned how to repair a washing machine we can answer your question. The valve to the washing machine stays open, and the solenoid inside the washing machine controls the water flow when needed during the cycles. Hooking up a splitter to the water line would be nothing short of unscrewing the hose, putting on the splitter, and rescrewing the hose back in. The two valves are controlled by the black switches that you turn in the on and off position.

In other words, do it! You won't make anyone mad, and it will be a hell of a lot cheaper to fill your pond once a week with warm water rather than having your heaters working double time trying to compete with the newly added cold water. :headbang2

will do! ill do another water change to test it out:naughty:

Hot water heaters can vary in temperature a lot. Given that I'm sure poached fish isn't what you want, you'll have to do some experimenting witht your cold water/hot water mixture to get the right temp going. ;)

ohhh ok, we also have a canister holding thing that hold our hotwater, anyways to get a direct sourse?

Your hot water heater is directly connected to the valve going into the washing machine. As you add garden hose water and hot water to the sump at the same time, just monitor the temp in the pond closely and you'll be fine. :)

Edit: I just wanted to give you a heads up that our hot water is SUPER hot and we end up not using nearly as much if it were not quite as hot. I have sometimes walked away for a few minutes only to have 90 degree water. No big deal when there aren't fish in there, but you've got a different story. No ADHD stuff allowed like I did! ;) Good news is that you're working with a lot of water so you aren't going to have as big of problems with swings as you would with a smaller tank.

kk! i think i will use a 54gallon rubermaid at first to experiment with it then when i get the right temp in the bucket then ill put it in the pond

Good call. I used to do that a lot. You'll find that as the weather changes, the water coming out of your garden hose will be cooler and you'll start to need more hot water. Getting an idea on your mix in the tub every once in a while might save you some headaches.
