I have tried several types of heaters, and yes, mostly the cheapest ones....but I've bought a few that were supposed to be real good too, and they still can't maintain a consistant temp.

Yesterday I caught another tank up over 100 degrees...

So lets hear what everyone is using and had good luck with. Not counting the high end stuff with temp sensor controllers. I use an 800w titanium with a controller on my Ray pool and it's great, but I need solutions for the tanks in the 75g range. I have several and I can't spend a ton of $$$.

200-400W all-in-one submersibles. What works properly?

i have had the same problem too, with temp fluctuations creating ich problems and much stress. i got fed up with the glass thermometers and went with stainless steel thermometer, which is like 10-15 bucks off the titanium ones with no problems at all. i love them.

i realise this isnt all in one but its not expensive at all

That fits the criteria...cost effective.

well im using a glass 300w heater its doing fine :]

What brand, how long has it been giving you accurate temps?

I also forgot to mention...I have a couple of aggressive males...found a glass heater broken the other day.

Keep the options coming!

I use a 300 watt Hydor External water heater inline with my Eheim 2028 pro 2 on my 120. its very efficient. As for submersible heaters, Eheim Jager is the best by far..IMO.

I too have had a lot different heathers, hydor, ehiem, aqua mia, marine land. So far the ehiem one worked well AFTER i set the calibration 15x. The aqua via ones that i own now are great. Titanium, adjustable temps, outside control. These are on the higher end, but well worth the money. (so far)

Ok...Calibration...why? due to ambient temp?

The ambient temp in my basement isn't consistant...does that affect them?
