Just looking for opinions on some different heaters that will last. Tried 300w jäger heaters the last time and seems like for me they are only good for about a year in my tanks in my basement. Would really like to find some that last and are possibly reasonably priced.

Thanks

Basically, ALL heaters made today are short live due to inferior quality components........in order to keep them reasonably priced and profitable.

There's been many threads about this very subject, on this forum, and they all have mixed reviews.

Best thing you can do is be vigilant of your tanks' temp and get some extra insurance by using a controller and electronic thermometers with temp alarms

too true, these days I honestly believe the majority of products are built to last only just outside of warranty; whether that be a year or two. Of course many might disagree, which is fine; not that I really care, but I've had it happen numerous times with mobile phones, and other electronics; specifically...

Sadly, consumers mindset has also changed. Many people, nowadays, wants old things replaced with shiny, brand new things every couple of years or so. Just look at cell phones and cars as a perfect example.

All my heaters are from 7-10 years ago. An eheim jager as well. Works well. Also I have pond pumps to air pumps that last me a decade as well and still using it. Everything now these days are built like crap. I'd rather pay a lot for a heater if I know it will last me a while but nothings in the market like that anymore.

I know for fish rooms many people don't want heaters even the King of DIY his rays died from a heater failure. Its better to heat the room then to get a heater.

Brian your Bonsai got so big in your sig! Mine barely grew but mines a female.

I buy cheapy heaters <US$10, keep 3 spare, always have at least 2 heaters per tank. Having said that, haven't had one fail in 3 years, go figure & touch wood....

I use finnex. Had the least amount of complaints compared to others. Still working well for me.
