I'm having trouble with my heaters in my 110 gal. A little info on my situation. My 110 is in the basement and the basement has a temp of low 70s. The heaters are 2x 200w jager. I have had these heaters for about 2 yrs without any problem. There doesn't seem to be any physical damage and the lights that indicates that it's on is on. I was wondering if it's just time to replace them?
How long should a heater last before it needs replacing and what can I do to prolong the life of the new heater? Also, I have always seen water droplets in all my heaters and was wondering if it's normal?
Thanks in advance.

How long a heater last depends on a lot of variable. Desired water temp, outside air temp, insulation of the tank,.....

Sounds like they have worn out and its time to replace them. 2 years isn't too bad of a run with heaters.

I've had a lot of heater problems...........decided to stop buying inexspensive heaters. Yesterday i purchased a Marineland Shatter Proof Heater, 250 watt. It has no glass and has a hard plastic outer shell. Looks well designed.
If you need a new heater it might be something worth checking out. :)

I believe you are talking about the Stealth Heaters. there are many members who like these. I have had quite a fe problems with them. IMO, just stay with a quality brand and you should be fine. But 2 years is probably a good time frame on lifespan. Some longer, some not, there are a lot of variables.

Go jager.

Not trying to hijack your thread. :)
Wish i knew about the issues with the stealth heaters....live and learn...
When i said inexspensive i was talking about the hang on the back heaters.
About 25 years ago someone made a green submersible heater but i can't remember the manufacturer, but i'm thinking a ebo-jager, it was top notch. The reason i bought the plastic stealth is i got oscars and didn't want them breaking it. In my area we don't have much selection and i'm leary of buying on line after the pond liner fiasco.

go with jager..visi stealth aint all that ..got my 5 month ago now itsn't working ,call marineland ,they never pick up the phone ,leave the msg but never call back either ..so **** them ,i bought a jager to replace and its much better .just my 2cent

I vote Jager too!!!

I have both. Neither have failed on me, but the stealth is only a few months old and I am nervous about it. With my Jager, I sleep real well at night.
