As most of you know I am building a 8'x3'x2' Plywood/pond liner pond for my large cats, I have run into a snag however, how should I heat the tank. I assume heaters can be used if they are out of the way from the crushing power of my large babies, just how many do I need, what wattage, and which would be best for my application? The pond is a little under 400 U.S. gallons. Also, my house stays a constant 70-72 degrees F at room temperature, if that means anything. Many thanks, it's much appreciated.

I am not sure about what everyone else does but when I go to figure out how many heaters I take 3 watts per gallon , so in your instance you would need roughly 1,200 watts, now that said.. I would use a few smaller heaters instead of 2 larger ones .. just in case of failure you will still have heat , granted you will have to tweak and adjust them but once you have it set it should be a breeze.

hope this helps

Get a titanium 1000watt and make sure it's insulated especially the bottom and ul be fine.

Where can I get one of these? And what do you mean by insulated? Like encased so it doens't melt the liner?
