Heathd's 130g build

Courser sand, yes, but I'm still doing a DSB.... BWAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAHA

I do think a really fine grain sand is awesome for microfauna, but its just a pita when something agitates it. My blenny, for whatever reason, pulls a chinchilla and takes sand baths from time to time.

And im working on getting it filled up. Trying to think of something crazy I can do with the rock formation. Something that will allow me to keep lps, sps, and softies.... but in a defined manner such that I dont have to worry about them fighting each other.

Well...I am taking baby steps with you.

The second part I dont know if I can help you on...that is one thing that will always cause issues. Building a rock work that works, and looks good, at the same time leaving space on all your rocks for corals, and the ones you want to get good coverage, yet stay isolated from other things/be trimmable. Its hard.

Moved the tank yesterday with help of Frank's suction cups and a good buddy.

I painted everything with oil based kilz that would likely come into contact with water (no pictures).

I also put down some egg crate and started on my rock pile, its my first pass and I may or may not change it. Knowing me, I will probably leave it alone. The pukani locks together pretty well.

Managed to get enough plumbing done today to do a leak test on the tank. I still have some more to go for my reactors, but thats not necessarily a priority right now.

South Park!

Glad to see your taste in humor is good, and that there is finally h2o in this tank!

Sorry fleshy but it was bugging me. NaCIH2O... When you typed water I had to look it up and I figured I would share my 2 min google search. Nice background btw I know you wrote foam board but what kind of foam board did you se... Was it Polyisostyrenite??? ( foam board insulation.)

It was the foam board insulation. I never ended up installing it between the tank and the stand. I went with a half inch thick piece of ply to isolate the tank from the metal frame.

Haha...its not even that much shorter than typing water...I do it all the time though.

Best south park episode...the one where ceasar milan trains eric.

Wooo, long weekend!!!

The tank has been cycling for about two months, and Ive been using ammonia chloride to do a fishless cycle. I decided yesterday that it was ready to go. Here are a few pics.

Plumbing for the carbon and biopellet reactors, close to being finished.

The brittle stars that I tried to save from the previous tank. A little difficult since I used zero of the LR from my 75....

And on their merry way after a drip acclimation.

And the tank, in its sterile and sparse condition. Sigh, I need more corals and fish now....
