Any idea's or suggestions on what heater to buy. Links would also be great.:)

I what one with an external heater control.

For anything of such sizes, i would solely recommend heating the whole room. It saves so much on electricity and costs. It just needs more of an initial investment. Such as insulating the whole room and then insulating the pond, double glazing windows and carpet make a huge difference in keeping heat. Then just get a separate boiler and a few radiators and you are set for a very long time.

Well, that will work out to be about 350 gallons so you will need a little over 1500 watts of heater to keep that thing warm. If you insulate the pond before you build, you can minumize the heat loss and run on lower wattage.

I suggest Visi-therm stealths for heaters if you choose not to heat the entire room.

My pond is 400 gallons and is outside. I use one 500 watt heater and keeps my water at 78 even when it hits 30 outside.

Well, 5 watts per gallon is usually the rule for aquariums but glass isn't the best insulator. I guess with foam under the liner, you may only need two 300 watt Stealths

3415 BTU = a kilo watt hr. Will your room be heated ? In a room of 70F it wouldn't take "much" to heat a covered tank to 76F. You need to define some variables.
My experience is that VisaTherms are not remotely as reliable as Ebo Jager ( I am not connected to either ).

I have never had problems with my Visi-therms, but I don't like AGA or Theos at all, NEVER USE THEM.

1 BTU is 1 degree F/lb water, correct?

I have a very insulated outdoor pond in a spa like insulated box with an insulated cover it is the same measurements as the one you mention and I keep it around 78 with a 500 w heater even when the temps are -30 at night. It doesn't struggle at all to keep it that temp. I would say build an insulated box for it. Costed me around 300 dollars.
