What do you all think I should do to heat my 450 gallon that is in my shop? I'm in north Texas USA and my shop does not have heat or AC. Planning on putting Amazon fish it it.

Thanks

3 x 300w eheim jaegar heaters.
I won't recommend 1000w titanium heaters. The heating elements are good, but the external controller are unreliable.

What's the coldest the air inside the shop gets? I've never had anything more then a 350 watt heater in my 450g, but then the ambient temp of the room it's in never is below 75 degrees. Plus the lights and pumps also heat the water.

Yeah that will take some doing to keep it heated at that temp. One thing that would help a lot would be to insulate the tank. Top, sides and bottom and you could even make some sort of insulated door to cover the front while your not wanting to view the tank.

On my 450g I run 3 x 300 watt Rena Smart Heaters during the winters cuz we have -50 calcius winters here in Calgary but in the summer I turn off the heaters completely cuz my room is more then 24 degrees calcius and my temp in the tank is about 84 F. So in the summers I wouldn't worry about heating assuming u have hot summers.

How cold is your room in the winter?

Last winter the room never got below 75 dgrees, I did keep the doors closed from the rest of the house and there was also another 250-300 gallons of fish tanks in the room.

Thanks everyone. Just trying to get the heaters I will need before I need them.

You should look into a controller when using multiple heaters. Heaters tend to fail. The more heaters you have the greater the chance of one of them going bad. Of all my aquarium equipment my heaters have caused more catastrophic failures than any other piece of equipment. I think it's just because you don't notice your fish are cooking until it's too late.

In my 450 I'm using an Aqua Logic Digital controller rated up to 1000 watts. I have three 300 watt heaters, two in my sump and one in the tank all plugged into an extension cord then to the controller. I set all the heaters to 90 and I have my controller set to 80. The controller turns all the heaters on and of at the same time. If the controller goes bad in the on position my worst case is the heaters will only heat the tank to 90.
