Ok, So I know how to care for a water dragon, all the temps, humidity needs and feeding needs. I know they need a basking spot an UV and a large pool. My question is, How would I go about heating a viv like the one in the pic, could I do it with heatmats (statted of course) or would it just not be possible? My viv is going to be ALOT taller though for these water dragons, but built exactly the same with all the same materials. Thanks in advance.

sorry jess i cant help with this one but i would like a better shot of your enclosure i always like looking at reptile setups

ps....why the hostle avatar flick :)

Ours are heated with heat lamps and a very small circulation fan. pictures on the sale thread...

I'd go with a radiant heat panel. I've never used one, but they're supposed to be very efficient and very effective at raising ambient temps.

That isn't mine, it's an example of what mine will look like once made. If I can't heat it theres no building it :)

As for the avatar, it's not hostle, its abit of attitude tht most will be able to find funny (may be abit too much to ask on this forum though )

But the lamp would have to be off at night wouldn't it? Have a feeling it would be too cold in the UK for that.

Never heard of 'em!

Come onnn, better than a pic o a pleco ;) :naughty:

You dont need UV.

I would use a flood lamp or possibly even halogen (be careful) depending on cage size. What temp are you trying to reach?

No on the heat mats... A heat panel might be a possibilty if you can fit one on. But the plastic snake cages that often have them built in dont work for water dragons, so youd have to build one your own if thats not already what you plan on.

Peace

Ooops double post...

I have a chinese water dragon not an Aussie( I want one though)
I use a combination of heating the small pool he has and the heatlamps at the top of his enclosure this keeps the whole enclosure warm but it makes it so the top is a whole lot warmer allowing him to regulate his own temp by where he is in the enclosure
